I got this book for free, in exchange for my honest opinion via NetGalley. Also, sponsored in part via Xpresso.
Zora has dedicated every waking moment to her D.C. bookstore and rarely has time for romance. However, when Lawrence, an author she‘s been crushing on for years has an event at her store, she begins to revaluate her life‘s priorities. Add in his best friend Reid, and this is a book full of a love triangle…

A book about a Black plus-sized bibliophile who owns a bookstore in DC = Yes, please! Great characters who are funny and authentic. Such a great read.

I loved the bookshop setting and how dedicated Zora was to her shop, employees, family, & community. I loved the body positivity & that Zora, Emma, & Granny expected men to value their goals, time, & pleasure as much as those men valued those things for themselves. I loved the descriptions of everything from food to home to skincare products to the DC setting. I didn't really love how obvious the issue between the two men was to the reader ⬇️

bookandbedandtea ⬆️ and especially how Zora felt entitled to understand the issue between the men and then get angry at one of them that neither of them had told her what was going on. And she's only been seeing them for a few weeks! Also Granny's CONSTANT mention of her desire for great grandbabies was too much. Still, lots of good. 1y

I really should have DNF‘d this one. Was hoping it would get better, but it didn‘t and then I realized I hated a book by the same author last year. Clearly this author isn‘t for me and I will a kid their future books.
