Loved the movie adaptation, so I read this. Very different but a great read.

The movie was hilarious and beautifully made. There are wonderful New Zealand scenery and witty bookish thing like actual chapters in beautiful font.i checked out the book immediately assuming I will swallow 150 pages in couple days. Unfortunately,it is not my cup of tea( Slow prose and hunting details make the book boring. After the passage where a boy walked down to a camp with dead deer whose "blood dripping down my leg-backs" I said goodbye
My library #tbr shelf... currently double stacked with some extras just shoved on top 😬🤔
I don't even really know where to start...
I saw this movie tonight and now I have to read the book! The movie was great! And it had me laughing! Even if you don't read the book, catch the movie!
Lovely, easy-to-read little book about a young boy and his grumpy old uncle who are on the run from the authorities in the wilderness of New Zealand. I was sad when it was over. I recommend the movie, too.
Ok so I haven't actually read this book, but I did just see the movie they made out of it and it's DELIGHTFUL. Seriously--if it's playing near you, go see it if you can. It's so sweet and warm and also hysterically funny (also, if you're into Marvel stuff, the guy who directed this, Taika Waititi, is going to direct Thor: Ragnarok, and I'm so excited for that because he's great)!
