4✨ This is the last book in the trilogy and it is heartbreaking! Anything that could happen to an elephant happens to poor little Ruby. She finds a bit of herself in a celebration. Loved each book in this series. #SeriesLove @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

The third book in this group focuses on little Ruby, the elephant. Even though this book is catered to kids, I absolutely adore them but also the author really strives to research about the animals she‘s writing about, I hope she keeps on.
Favorite of this series. Ruby is the definition of hope still, I feel. This is her story of her past in Africa before the mall. As well as her growing up ceremony. What also stuck me was how her story encouraged Ivan to talk about Stella. As the groups pain kept them from doing so. The way this was tackled made me cry. Very nicely handled. Especially around a book talking poachers killing elephants for their tusks. Ruby hates her tusks due to that
I enjoyed Ivan the most, Bob was okay, and Ruby just fell short for me. Her story is important and valuable. I know at 35 I'm not the target audience and so most of the content felt already known and maybe that's why I felt rather bored while reading it. But for reading growing in confidence learning or poaching could be something that they've never read or heard about before.
My daughter LOVES elephants & this series. It was great to hear Ruby‘s story. Heartwarming, heartbreaking & so well done.
My daughter got to see elephants (including some babies) during her trip to Africa. It was an experience she‘ll never forget.

The One And Only Ivan has always been a favorite in my classroom, and it is frequently checked out. Recently, I read The One And Only Bob and enjoyed it as well. However, I can confidently say that The One And Only Ruby is my favorite of the series. Did a middle grade story of an elephant make me cry? Sure did.
