Picked this up as a Bookbub deal yesterday. Love it so far! Was enjoying a lazy, rainy day of reading on my front porch. Unfortunately it stopped raining & my hubs has declared we must exercise. Drat!

Picked this up as a Bookbub deal yesterday. Love it so far! Was enjoying a lazy, rainy day of reading on my front porch. Unfortunately it stopped raining & my hubs has declared we must exercise. Drat!
so-soFor a first book in a mystery series, that wasn‘t bad. The characters are relatable, the world-building excellent. The only problem was, I figured out the murderer & the motive around chapter 2, & spent the rest of the book hoping I was wrong. Still, while the end was a bit disappointing, the prose made the journey fun! I‘m interested to see where these lovable characters go next — especially if the plots get better. ★★★☆☆.

so-soThis is a type of historical mystery. I found the book a slow read but I did get through it. I did find the ending predictable but it wrapped up nicely. It was decently written and I found out it was the first book in a series. I might go ahead and try book 2. All in all it was decent but not one I would reread.
