Pickpick

At times, this was hard to read - Franny goes through so much & it takes most of the book to piece together what‘s happened to her. It can be frustrating to read, as you don‘t have all the pieces to make sense of until the end. This will irritate some (maybe most) readers.
I really liked it though, maybe because I listened to the audio rather than giving it a straight read? In any case I enjoyed this one and it‘s echoes of Moby Dick very much.

sarahbarnes I loved this one. 1y
batsy Intriguing! Nice review. I know @BarbaraBB recommended this to me when I was looking for more climate fiction. I haven't read Moby Dick so maybe I will read that first and then this 🤓 1y
BarbaraBB @batsy That sounds like a plan 😀 I guess I also recommended the tagged one?! 1y

batsy @BarbaraBB Yes you did! 😁 1y
Aimeesue @batsy Ot might be interesting to read them back to back. I read MD so long ago that I only caught the major resonances; I‘m not sure it goes deeper than chasing the metaphorical white whale and enigmatic sea folk. 😁 But if it does map more closely, I can‘t remember! (edited) 1y
Aimeesue @BarbaraBB ˆWhales begin sinking ships." Wow, not even fiction these days between the orcas and the sea otters! Stacked! 1y
batsy @Aimeesue Oh, cool! It gives me a reason to tackle MD because I meant to last year, and the year before last 😆 1y
