This Christmas novella is part of the Follet Valley cozy mystery series, which is set in France. Richard is a Brit who loves classic movies & runs a fancy B&B in the Follet Valley. Valérie is a bounty hunter of sorts & they team up to solve murders. This one is reminiscent of an Agatha Christie house party murder mystery without the murder. Fun & cozy & perfect for this time of year. 80 points.

I‘ve not read either of the books in Ian Moore‘s Follet Valley series, but after reading this seasonal special, I definitely will. Richard, an Englishman running a B&B in rural France, finds his Christmas plans interrupted when his not-partner Valérie, arranges a murder-mystery event, with real-life results.

The slightly uptight, fish-out-of-water nature of Richard‘s character made me imagine him as Ben Miller.
