I find K.L. Slater‘s thrillers to all be fairly standard (of the ones I read anyway), it was good, it probably won‘t stand out to me over time, but it was a good thriller.

This was a weird, implausible story peopled by unsympathetic characters. I think the strangeness is what kept me reading but I kind of wish I hadn't bothered.
Imagine finding out on the day you become a widow that your newly deceased husband has been living a double life and his other partner arrives to let you know she owns your house, has a child with him and is either moving in or evicting you. This book had me side eyeing almost every character at some stage before it wound up in a way I didn't anticipate.Told from multiple points of view, past and present tenses, it was a great read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
