Tokyo Police Detective Kaga (book 3 in the series) is tasked with investigating a murder that takes place under the statue of a kirin on the Nihonbashi bridge. The victim was stabbed in the chest, and it is up to Detective Kaga to solve the case. But, first he must unravel the secrets surrounding the victim‘s complicated life and find out where and why he was attacked.

Another great book from this author! I loved these three books about the genius of Detective Kaga. Despite my best attempts, he was always a step ahead of me and I was always surprised by the ending. I‘m definitely going to read more by Higashino!

The latest in the Detective Kaga series offers a good police procedural. There‘s a strong sense of place as Higashino describes the streets of Tokyo, and it was an interesting look at the culture. If you‘ve enjoyed Higashino‘s other books, do not give this a miss. Not my favourite of his books, but it was engaging to follow Detective Kaga solves the case, and it has a satisfactory conclusion.

Higashino has been on my list to pick up for years - so glad I finally did! This was an excellent read. I see where the comparison to Poirot comes from but there‘s a grittiness you get from a police procedural that you don‘t get from a gentleman detective.

It was easy enough to jump into Book 3 of the series but I‘ll be going back for the first two soon. It was well-paced, captivating, and twisty without being unbelievable.
