This was by turns heartbreaking and beautiful. Set in post WWII Japan the story centers around Elly who is a Scottish/Japanese woman who is returning to Japan after being interned in Australia internment camp. There are dark moments and the book explores the dark side of American occupation of Japan. Beautifully written. #travelthroughbooks #springread
