The Enchantment Emporium
The Enchantment Emporium | Tanya Huff
2 posts | 10 read | 16 to read
The bestselling author of the Blood Books delivers a masterful new urban fantasy. Alysha Gale is a member of a family capable of changing the world with the charms they cast. Then she receives word that she's inherited her grandmother's junk shop in Calgary, only to discover upon arriving that she'll be serving the fey community. And when Alysha learns just how much trouble is brewing in Calgary, even calling in the family to help may not be enough to save the day.

For fun, I am going to post one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.
This is day 1 #bookstoread #tbrpile

Erofan Great idea 👍 5y

Pickpick

#herebedragons The beginning of a weird, beguiling series about the Gales, a magic family with incredible power, a wry sense of humor, and a shop that sells yo-yos and magic potions. Confusing at times, but just go with it. Also erotic diversity as a part of life but no sex on the page. #romantsy

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Sounds good!! May have to check this out!! 8y
Leniverse Oh, I need to get this. It's been years since I read any Tanya Huff, but I loved all of her work, except for her military sci-fi which I quit after the first book. The Zulu wars in space with giant arachnids just wasn't my thing. 8y
EloisaJames @Leniverse all I've read is this series. What would you recommend? 8y

Leniverse The Vicki Nelson books are great if you like detective vampire fiction (with a more likeable female character than Anita Blake, and a lot less sexual angst). If you want light hearted urban fantasy with witchcraft (and cats!), go for the Keeper Chronicles. If you want fantasy with twin assassins, bardic magic, (and yet more non-sex sexual diversity) go for Quarters (though I found book 4 to be weaker than the others.) 8y
Leniverse The Quarters series was my introduction to Tanya Huff, and it was also the first time I had seen sexual diversity treated so... casually. Like a character isn't so much labelled "bisexual" as it was just understood that it's totally normal to be attracted to people of any gender. My teenage mind did a double take, and I remember thinking, "Yes, that's what the world should be like! Your sexual preference is no big deal." 8y
EloisaJames @Leniverse thank you!! Starting with the Keeper books--in need of heart-warming. 8y
EloisaJames @Leniverse I loved that aspect of the Enchantment Emporium. 8y
flip58 Love Huff including the military sci-fi. Just bought the latest Sci-fi. Firestone has a beautiful between two males. And normally I wouldnt pick up a M/M romance. But it is fantastic. Summon The Keeper is a romantic fantasy 8y
