I feel like this book would have been better served if it tried to be a little less? There is a galactic empire and a rebellion. There are also inhabitants of a world caught in the crossfire, an AI that defected from the empire, and a commune of people trying to avoid the conflict. The threat of the empire is underdeveloped, the locals are a plot device, the AI is exposition-dumped at the end, and the rebels are all over the place. ⤵️

TieDyeDude The cover and the hype would lead you to believe that it is a queer love story, but it is not. It is a straight sci-fi story. There is talk about binders and a character with she/her pronouns has a beard, but this is a story with non-binary characters, not about non-binary characters. Which is great, and should be the norm, but the marketing felt misleading. 6mo
LiteraryinPA That‘s really interesting… the cover definitely made me think it was a queer love story! 6mo
Mimi28 I have this book out from the library right now but I haven‘t read it yet. 5mo
TieDyeDude @Mimi28 I'll be curious to see what you think of it! 5mo
Mimi28 Ok, I‘ll read it next. I was trying to read Station Eleven for the author a month but I just learned about a lot of triggers. I agree that non- binary books should be the norm. 5mo

This is the first comic I‘ve registered here. The reason being: I don‘t read comics very often. However, I really did enjoy this one and found it refreshing. Though this comic was good, I felt that there was a lot of information-dumping in dialogue which left me confused as to what was happening or the science behind it, even though it was explained. I did really enjoy it and would recommend to all fans of sci-fi!
3.5⭐️

Lovelylottereader To further explain, I believe I had higher expectations for this comic, which might‘ve been unfair and stopped me from giving it a fair chance. I may reread it at some point and change my mind. 2y
GondorGirl I agree that a bit of the science (and world building) was a little lacking, but the characters and relationships were just lovely. 2y
Lovelylottereader @GondorGirl I can agree with that, I loved both the look and personality of the characters! And of course the relationships between them were great 2y

This YA science fiction graphic novel is a sad victim to terrible marketing. The blurb says it's a romance between two nonbinary teens from different solar systems, Fassen and Lu. It is not! It's Fassen's story of growing up in a rebel war society and travel jumping to Lu's peaceful world in a crisis. Their bond is clearly queerplatonic. The art is AMAZING, gorgeous human diversity in gender expression, body type, race. Also beautiful planets!

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian What a mixed bag! If you're going to read this, do not read the back cover or any of the marketing material. I love Blue Delliquanti's other work and am mad for them that the publisher did such a bad job. 3y

Today I spent four hours trying on every piece of clothing I own. I filled three trash bags with things that don't fit anymore and made a list of things I'm going to need to buy. It's been two years of t-shirts and joggers and not taking the best care of myself. It's time for a change. The afternoon was... not fun, but I did it! I'm going to reward myself by starting this beautiful looking graphic novel that I picked up the other day. 🧡

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago and I need to be more active!! 🏃‍♀️ 3y
EvieBee Same for me! I did need to go up a size on my Spanx in order to get into my dress clothes though. 3y
