Batman never uses a gun. He never kills. But one day an imposter dressed as the dark vigilante murders criminals in cold blood and on live television. Bruce scrambles to clear his name as the GCPD close in on him. A taut and gritty tale set in a grounded Gotham where shadows cloud every motive and trust is a rare commodity. Highly recommended!

@vivastory described this as a spiritual successor to Matt Reeves' new Batman movie, and that is quite accurate. This is less a superhero, more a man with some serious issues waging a one man war on crime. I always appreciate a story featuring Leslie Thompson. The imposter reveal was a bit predictable, but it didn't impact my enjoyment of a gritty story with equally gritty and excellent art.

vivastory Sorrentino's art really helped make this one of the better Batman DC Black Label that I've read. Glad that you liked it 11mo
TieDyeDude @vivastory I read Volume 1 of Gideon Falls years ago and don't remember much of the story (I'll need to reread to continue the series), but I absolutely remember the trippy art from Sorrentino. I'll definitely keep an eye out for his stuff in the future! 11mo

So this is a brand new Black Label comic that DC released to cash in on the hype for Matt Reeves‘s The Batman, and damn if it didn‘t surpass it! 😍 This was easily the best comic I‘ve read in quite some time. The story was mature (and definitely not for kids) and the artwork was mostly fantastic. So glad I picked this up! If you‘ve seen the movie and want something in a similar vein give this a go! Also, my review:

vivastory This sounds great! I see that the artist for Gideon Falls does the art for this. I will def. be checking it out. I saw Batman yesterday. I really liked it overall, although I do feel like it fell apart in the last 15-20 minutes. But I would rank it in top 5 Batman live action movies. I don't know if you have read them, but for Batman related graphic novels I really enjoyed both Alan Moore's The Killing Joke & Stjepan Sejic's Harleen 3y
TH3F4LC0N I‘ve really got to get around to reading The Killing Joke! My local bookstore has a fairly proficient comics section, but alas, they usually don‘t have that. Prolly have to go the Amazon route for that one. And yeah, def give The Imposter a look! Even more grounded and gritty than the movie! 😀 And glad you enjoyed The Batman. I do agree it got a lil wonky towards the end. It went from The Maltese Falcon to The Day After Tomorrow in 1 second 😅 3y
vivastory That's a good way to put it 😂 👏 I think it's def worth seeking out The Killing Joke. I read it several years ago & it remains one of my fave graphic novels. 3y
TH3F4LC0N Yeah I‘ve read a couple other of Alan Moore‘s works and I‘d like to see what he did with Batman and the Joker 🙂 3y
