This was a great, fast-paced, clever novel about Beth who is a CIA operative but is taken off a case suddenly as it appears her target “The Neighbor” may live close to her. Red herrings, twists and turns made me read long into the night. Loved it!

I liked how the story presented things in a way meant to keep the reader guessing; it made a case for each neighbor being “The Neighbor” in a logical way, not revealing the truth until the end. I really liked that the end tied up loose ends while not ending things entirely; the imagination is left wondering what will happen next. At times it seemed like there were a few too many characters to keep track of because they all have so much in common.

How well do you know your neighbors? Spouse? 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 will have you wondering as you read 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐫, a contemporary, timely, & chilling thriller about a woman who refuses to give up until she finds the Iranian operative following the most frightening order: “Remind The Neighbor to use the children.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I think this started out okay but then floundered for a while. But eventually, around the last quarter…things started clicking and I found myself sort of invested in the story, after all. Overall, the reveals were a bit shocking and maybe even unbelievably far-fetched…but what do I know…the author is former CIA, after all.
At 40% I was 100% annoyed with Beth - how she worked for the CIA is beyond me. She holds no patience or common sense, is inept, impulsive, and irrational - and I understand her life is upside down, but it‘s the cliché: women are ruled by emotion. This woman is too “emotional” to do her CIA job. (Sigh)…so another “professional” woman who doesn‘t act like a professional under stress (Unless “nitwit” is a new profession?)
