Another fantastic horror read. Genuinely chilling. I would call this the Exorcist mixed with Lord of the Flies. Very dark, scary and gory - note children and some animals are harmed in this book. Great for this month, but also would be a great winter scary read. 5⭐️

I really enjoyed this book about a bunch of boys in a remote Catholic orphanage. They are in a remote area with a storm coming when a possessed man also shows up 💙

I LOVED this truly unsettling historical horror story! The audiobook was amazing and I highly recommend. It was so creepy and atmospheric and somehow also had a uniquely touching ending. Can‘t wait to read more by this author! #scarathlon #skeletoncrew #bookspinbingo #31by31 #spookoween #pumpkinspicereadathon

A bleak and depressing orphanage run by priests. They are isolated and hours from the nearest house. When evil infects some of the children, it becomes a battle for survival. I felt a sense of dread while reading this. The priests were already cruel to the children, but then add the presence of evil and these children are plunged into a nightmare. The landscape of the book was so bleak, and everything felt so hopeless. An interesting book.

Just finished this one and highly recommend the audiobook format. David Aaron Baker reading of this novel is spot on he captures the horror and the survival. The analogy of Lord of the Flies meets the exorcist is eerily perfect. Listened to this one in a day through the Libby app and have ordered a hard copy and audiobook copy to read this one again.

This one is epic. I was hooked from the first chapter and it was balls to the wall the entire time. By the end you feel like you‘ve been through it with the characters and your heart will be ripped out. Fracassi nailed it.
