Destiny, secrets, loyal friendships and slow burning romance topped with action and adventure. This was a great fantasy read and satisfying standalone story. I loved all the main characters, the descriptions, and the story arc. Highly recommend!

Two beautiful editions😍
A common idea of brother and sister separated after parents were murdered. Feelings of revenge are present and hidden magic is discovered which is forbidden in that city. It is a slow reading. The action comes almost at the end of the book. But the end motivates me to know what is the purpose of this person to reappear now, why? 3⭐️

I really liked the start of the book and was looking forward to an original story, but it fell into all the YA fantasy cliches and I am just burnt out on them. If you are a fan of YA fantasy, I would definitely recommend, just not for me. #dnf

Just look at this gorgeous #OwlCrate edition!! And I didn't get it in my photo but the edges are sprayed green as well!! I really enjoyed this fantasy. Overall the pacing was fairly good although it did bog down in spots. I liked the characters and was rooting for them, although the romance was not completely believable to me. This one is listed as a standalone, yet the final little epilogue definitely has a "in the next book" vibe?? Whilst ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) checking the author's website to see if there was anything about a sequel (nothing I could find) I did stumble across the one thing I felt this book was really lacking - a map! Why can't all books include maps!??! I printed it off and tucked it into this book for next time!

TheAromaofBooks @Clare-Dragonfly - I just don't understand why there isn't a map in all books, ESPECIALLY fantasy! Especially when apparently she already had one drawn up! 😂 2y

⭐️⭐️⭐️There were so many aspects I loved about this book: the culture & world building, the character development, and how the stories twined together was all very good. But often what was happening was great but how it was presented felt clunky. There was a lot of plot jumps that felt underdeveloped & dialogue moments that were very “told & not shown.” However, I did enjoy it, and if I were 12, I would have LOVED it.
