A mother's Day gift.Made me smile . Retired teachers solving a murder. Reminded me somewhat of Richard Osman's books. Very gentle.

This was a gentle read, for the most part. A clever cozy, with lots of tea and gardening and family business. But underneath, it‘s a scathing indictment of the treatment of elders in our society, and the absolutely horrific things that can happen to those most vulnerable and alone. Not at all what I expected but a very good read.

Overall, not a bad book that‘s billed as “for fans of Thursday Murder Club and Death in Paradise.” Actually, it has a great subject matter, the predatory nature of scammers on the elderly. I‘ll give it 3 ⭐️

I‘ve got several books going on at once.
📕A Spoonful of Murder — cozy mystery, night audiobook.
📗I Can Resist Everything Except Temptation: Collection of quotes I dip in and out of.
📘Verse and Vengeance: cozy, walking audio
📙The Summer Place: beach reading, hardback
📖The Reading List: nighttime reading, ebook

I hope to finish at least one soon. It‘s been a slow reading month for me.

Keep slugging through, it really does pickup once you past the 50% mark! Overall this was fun and it enjoyed reading it, but it was definitely an effort. Slow start, but it eventually paid off. Once I passed the halfway mark, the story picked up quickly and it was a pretty fun ending. I was pleased to learn my deductions were correct regarding who the murder was, but the tying up of all the other little stories were quite fun.
