Mary Had a Little Glam
Mary Had a Little Glam | Tammi Sauer
4 posts | 7 read | 1 to read
This little Mary has STYLE! In this fun take on Mother Goose, fashion-forward Mary helps some of childhood's most beloved characters go glam. From the kid who lives in a shoe (and dons some fab footwear, too) to Jack, who breaks his crown but gets a great new one, Mary's school friends look fantastic in their finery. But are they now too well dressed for recess? Not to worry Mary always shows her flair for what to wear!"

Mary had a little glam by Tammi Sauer is a perfect self esteem booster when you need one! This RF picture book tells the story of Mary who is extremely stylish starting school for the first time! This book teachers students about confidence and individuality! I would use this book as a RA and use the UDL 7.1 optimize individual choice and autonomy. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs19IaMc4bY this link provides a nice Read Aloud of the book!

Ryan_R I love this picture! Way to incorporate your own glam into the picture! Nice work. 5y
Brittany_H This book is so cute! The resource is great to offer a different way to read the book to the class! 5y
DrSpalding Picture is awesome! This is such a fun version of the traditional literature… Mary had a little lamb. 5y

This RF book would be really fun if read as a DR. In this story, Mary, a spunky little girl has fabulous style. On her first day of school she learned that nobody there had any glam. Soon, thanks to her, everybody had glam! At recess everybody realized that they were overdressed for outside play. A valuable lesson that they learned after this is that sometimes less is more!

Keishla.O UDL strategies 7.1 (optimize individual choice and autonomy) can be used during/after this DR by allowing students to choose their own fun outfits to wear.
ESOL strategy 17 (Provide contextual support through audio visuals, models,
demonstrations, realia, body language and facial expressions) can be used when demonstrating the classroom glam time in the book via the DR.
https://youtu.be/Qs19IaMc4bY this video can be played during the DR.

VictoriaG I MUST read this book!!! I have a student in mind who this seems to represent and I can‘t wait to read it for myself too! 5y
MaddyJ This would be a great story to teach students about themes!! It would be so much fun to get students involved with this too! 5y
DrSpalding I believe one of your peers chose this as their storytelling book. I hope so! This could also be a wonderful dramatic reenactment as you mentioned. 5y

Another Drag Queen Story Time!

My position is a multisite assistant librarian, which means I get to work at 8 neighborhood libraries and at a different library everyday (sometimes 2 or 3 libraries in a day!) , so I really love that I‘ve gotten to work at two of our Drag Queen Story times! Our kids have so much fun decorating crowns, face painting, and coming in their fav costumes! 🏳️‍🌈❤️

queerbookreader I've always wanted to see a Drag Queen story time!!! Even though I'm a grown adult lmao 6y
