Yeah liked it ok- my super “compact” format did not do it justice- my eyes are not good enough for this DC!

Graphic Novels get their own 2024 mid-year faves list. In the case of Batman/Superman World's Finest, Nightwing and the Human Target, the fave goes for every entry in the series. Had to slide in my favourite art and picture book, as well.
And last but certainly not least, quarterly graphic novel faves. Had some truly outstanding Batman finds these past three months, but nothing topped Far Sector. Human Target made a splash near the beginning of the year and both volumes have stayed in my mind. Brooms is just wonderful. Graphic novels are a great balancing point for tackling weighty non-fiction, as long as they're good. 😏
THAT goes on the list of favourites of the year. Holy FUCK what an achievement. I will somewhat shamefacedly admit this is my first N.K. Jemisin, but it certainly makes me want to pick up her novels! And the art, oh my goodness, I will also be looking for more graphic novels illustrated by Jamal Campbell. 1/?
OMG, it's an Archive of Our Own reference!
N.K. Jemison just got more awesome.
Alien vampire vibes. Do you suppose hugs might be an adequate substitute to, y'know, eating everyone? 🤗
Yeah, Sojourner "Jo" Mullein is now officially my favourite Green Lantern. ?
Jemisin blends classic sci-fi tropes with contemporary social issues, such as drug use, the gig economy, voter suppression, and police brutality. Jo Mullein is a fiery protagonist who DC should incorporate into its pantheon. Campbell's art is wildly good.
I can't overstate how cool Jamal Campbell's character designs are.
From its gorgeous art to its code-switching dialogue, Far Sector is a fiercely contemporary take on Green Lantern. Jemisin weaves together tropes from noir, the importance of the emotions in Green Lantern lore, and racial--or interspecies--prejudice.
I started FAR SECTOR last night, and ooh boy. This is damned good comics. N.K. Jemisin‘s script and Jamal Campbell‘s art jive perfectly. I can‘t put it down.
At this point, I'm pretty much convinced anything N.K. Jemisin touches is gold. So good!
This graphic novel was a lot of fun. I love N.K. Jemisin‘s work so I was always going to give this a go. Glad I did.
