The Way Through the Woods | Colin Dexter

"Cunning...Your imagination will be frenetically flapping its wings until the very last chapter." THE WASHINGTON POST BOOK WORLD Morse is enjoying a rare if unsatisfying holiday in Dorset when the first letter appears in THE TIMES. A year before, a stunning Swedish student disappeared from Oxfordshire, leaving behind a rucksack with her identification. As the lady was dishy, young, and traveling alone, the Thames Valley Police suspected foul play. But without a body, and with precious few clues, the investigation ground to a halt. Now it seems that someone who can hold back no longer is composing clue-laden poetry that begins an enthusiastic correspondence among England's news-reading public. Not one to be left behind, Morse writes a letter of his own--and follows a twisting path through the Wytham Woods that leads to a most shocking murder.

#bookhaul with @CGainor3 ! Thanks for a great day Catherine 🙂

Relieved that I didn't buy that big Swift book! 😂😂😂

And the Walters one was free because the charity shop was doing Buy One Get One Free, so I got the Fraser and Walters for £1.25!

Caroline2 I love Antonia Fraser‘s books. Good haul!! 👍 4y

I had the pleasure of seeing the engaging colin dexter many moons ago and he made time to tell plenty of anecdotes and sign a personal message in my book. He created an iconic detective, cantankerous, beer drinking, opera loving, crossword solving Morse whose Tv series was compulsive viewing back in the day, im not sure whether it travelled to the usa. Lots of tributes on the news tonight and he gave great pleasure to readers.
