The Power of Regret
The Power of Regret: How Looking Backward Moves Us Forward | Daniel H. Pink
6 posts | 6 read | 1 reading | 6 to read
From the #1 New York Timesbestselling author of When and Drive, a new book about the transforming power of our most misunderstood yet potentially most valuable emotion: regret. Everybody has regrets, Daniel H. Pink explains in The Power of Regret. Theyre a universal and healthy part of being human. And understanding how regret works can help us make smarter decisions, perform better at work and school, and bring greater meaning to our lives. Drawing on research in social psychology, neuroscience, and biology, Pink debunks the myth of the no regrets philosophy of life. And using the largest sampling of American attitudes about regret ever conducted as well as his own World Regret Surveywhich has collected regrets from more than 15,000 people in 105 countrieshe lays out the four core regrets that each of us has. These deep regrets offer compelling insights into how we live and how we can find a better path forward. As he did in his bestsellers Drive, When, and A Whole New Mind, Pink lays out a dynamic new way of thinking about regret and frames his ideas in ways that are clear, accessible, and pragmatic. Packed with true stories of people's regrets as well as practical takeaways for reimagining regret as a positive force, The Power of Regret shows how we can live richer, more engaged lives.

I had high hopes for this book but I suppose my expectations were not aligned with the author‘s premise. Still a good read with nuggets to consider, just not my favorite book by the author.

I found this book at Target and was very interested. I regret buying it.

Desha This book is on my TBR and I was so looking forward to it! I‘m curious as to why you regret buying it? 2y
JulieAly @Desha the author seemed to just ramble on about regrets/types of regrets but didn‘t get to the “moving forward” part. I thought the book would be more about moving forward from regrets or learning how to use them to better oneself but it wasn‘t. 2y
Desha Okay thank you! I too was thinking it would be more about moving forward from regrets. In that case I‘m not as excited about reading it lol. Thank you for your review!! 📚 2y
JulieAly @Desha you‘re welcome! 2y

I‘m such a fan of Daniel Pink‘s that I preordered his latest book even though I was lukewarm about the subject matter. I‘m glad I did. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#the-power-of-regret-how-looking-back...
