Blood on the Tracks, volume 1
Blood on the Tracks, volume 1 | Shuzo Oshimi
4 posts | 4 read | 3 to read
From the creator who brought you notable works such as The Flowers of Evil, Happiness, and Inside Mari, comes a new suspense drama centering on the theme of a toxic parent. Dive into this latest thriller by master storyteller, Shuzo Oshimi. Seiichi's mother loves him very much, and his days pass with placid regularity. School, friends, even the attention of his attractive classmate Fukiishi. Until one terrible summer day, that all changes... Shuzo Oshimi (The Flowers of Evil) delivers his most unsettling work yet, the tale of a seemingly normal family suddenly swallowed up by the creeping horror of everyday life. Gorgeous art and an understated script only serve to heighten the tension as we watch Seiichi Osabe's life spiral into nightmare.

A solid start to a horror/thriller manga about a mother and son who may have not quite a typical relationship. Nothing really happens until the end of this first volume but the sense of dread is very real. I will definitely check out more of this series. 4⭐️

My January reads!
5 manga
4 fiction hardcover/paperback
3 graphic novels
2 audiobooks
1 nonfiction (hardcover)

Top 3:
Gender Queer
Legends & Lattes
The Cruel Prince

Shout out to the manga series Blood on the Tracks because it's a super dark mess, and I'm all about it.

Also decided right this very second that I'm going to DNF my current read, Tripping Arcadia because it's boring and I'd rather read something else. I got through about 30%.
