Mehso-so

This book has so much wasted potential. The plot about the secret Mitford manuscript went nowhere. Katie was a big Nancy Mitford fan and wrote her thesis about her in college, but didn‘t know she‘d worked in a bookstore? I‘ve only read a few novels about her and one book, yet I knew that. Gable never brings Nancy to life, and I don‘t care for Katie. She‘s almost 40, yet her actions are those of a teenager. The narrator was fine and I did finish.

KathyWheeler I also don‘t see the point of Clive, Katie‘s friend JoJo‘s son. He appears so often that I thought he was going to have some impact on the plot or on Katie‘s life. He doesn‘t. JoJo has several children and he‘s the only one who appears that much. 2y

Pickpick

Katie flees to London after her breakup and her inability to write her next book that was promised. While staying with her friend, she stumbles upon the bookshop where the woman who has fascinated her all her life worked during ww2. Nancy Mitfords life is told in flashbacks throughout the book. Katie's effort to find Nancy's unpublished book becomes the main focus of her stay. The Mitford's were a unique family if you've read of them.
