This was an amazing book. I feel like the best thing to describe it is gentle, despite it being a drama.

It seems this is the closest I‘m going to get to the Columbus Zoo Wild Lights this year 😢
Things just didn‘t work out between work and travel, etc.
It‘s an amazing experience and I hope to go back again in the future! Picture from CityScene Magazine

Another amazing book by one of my favorite YA authors. I know The Serpent King is his most popular, but I loved Goodbye Days more and In the Wild Light ranks up with that for me. The writing is so lyrical; Cash has so many bittersweet moments that I couldn't help but feel tenderness for him.
This book wrecked me. Everything I've read by this author is so good, but also makes me cry!
Wow. What a beautiful book. This YA novel tacked poverty, addiction, and healing. I cried every other page. At work. It was embarrassing. Such beautiful writing. I highly recommend.

Jeff Zentner can write some feelings into his stories.
Bookworm struggles: Stripping the bed after falling asleep reading and throwing your book into the washer with the sheets. Also washers do not like it when you throw books into them. They tend to get loud. Luckily it made noise right at the beginning of the cycle so all is well. #thestruggleisreal
Leave it Jeff Zentner to write another book that reaches into your heart and won‘t let go.
Spent some time this afternoon snuggled with my doggo reading this book. There's nothing silver, nor bells of any kind in my house.

"Here we are, survivors of quiet wars. Like trees that have weathered a brutal storm, but with broken branches and fallen blossoms littering the ground around us."
"I've always loved when the light finds the broken spots in the world and makes them beautiful."

I forgot how much Jeff Zentner likes to pull me apart then put me back together again with a book. Loved Cash and Delaney getting to explore outside their hometown and get to decide for themselves what they want their futures to be. Appreciate that this book focuses on the effects of addiction on children without being a Problem Novel. #yalit
