pickSecond novel in the Archer series. Good murder mystery set in a CA coastal town with some serious corruption problems. Archer goes to work for an experienced PI, travelling with a feisty, smart showgirl friend he meets on the way. I love how this series describes everyday life in late 1940s USA. It makes me realize what an embarrassment of riches most of us have in the U.S. compared to what our grandparents had.

There‘s sexual tension between our 2 MCs. Archer & Liberty are made for each other but that white knight thing!
An enjoyable addition to the series & good narration.

pickThis is a great second in a series. I actually liked this one better than the first.
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my first Baldacci read. The story was very enjoyable and there was a solid mystery that kept me turning the magic. I did have a problem with how the strong female characters would disappear from the story for huge chunks of time. And it very much felt like he didn‘t know how to write for a female character. But it was pretty good. This was my #bookspinbingo No. 23 pick.
pickArcher heads into Bay Town, California to work as apprentice PI to ex-FBI man Willie Dash. On the way he stops at Reno, where he picks up an exotic car and a driving companion. His first case in town is the blackmail of the Mayoral candidate.
But there's more to it than just that and as Archer gets pulled in, bodies start dropping around him and the conspiracy gets deeper...
