Pickpick

I finished the Led Zeppelin book!! My husband is a huge fan so we actually own several books that focus on this band. This one, published in 1991, was kind of like an extended fanzine that definitely focuses on Led Zeppelin as an entity rather than as individuals. If you're looking for history or inside stories, this is not the book for you. But if you want an overview of the band's albums, songs, concert, and collectible memorabilia, this one ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) is worth checking out. Cross's writing can come across as a little condescending at times (I noticed this when I read his biography of Kurt Cobain as well), & he hates on Stephen Davis's book, Hammer of the Gods, on multiple occasions. There are loads of interesting photos in this one as well. Written at a time when there were still rumors/hopes that the band might come back together with Jason Bonham on drums, there were moments when ⬇ 4y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) it felt a little dated. Ultimately a soft pick. If you're interested in Zeppelin, you'll find some tidbits to enjoy here. But if you don't already have a base of information, it isn't necessarily a great place to start.

Side note 1: Recently we watched “It Might Get Loud,“ a film featuring Jimmy Page, Edge, & Jack White. While not specifically about LZ, there is a lot about Page's technique & evolution. If you like rock music, it's ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) totally worth a watch. They did a great job choosing three incredibly talented yet fundamentally different musicians.

Side note 2: If you get a chance to see Jason Bonham's LZ cover band - totally do it. We saw them in concert in 2019 & they were absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend & I would totally go see them again.
