In the wake of World War I, Jane Wunderlya thoroughly modern young American widowis traveling abroad, enjoying the hospitality of an English lord and a perfectly proper manor house, until murder makes an unwelcome appearance . . . England, 1926: Wedgefield Manor, deep in the tranquil Essex countryside, provides a welcome rest stop for Jane and her matchmaking Aunt Millie before their return to America. While Millie spends time with her long-lost daughter, Lillian, and their host, Lord Hughes, Jane fills the hours devouring mystery novels and taking flying lessonsmuch to Millies disapproval. But any danger in the air is eclipsed by tragedy on the ground when one of the estates mechanics, Air Force veteran Simon Marshall, is killed in a motorcar collision. The sliced brake cables prove this was no accident, yet was the intended victim someone other than Simon? The house is full of suspectsvisiting relations, secretive servants, strangers prowling the grounds at nightand also full of targets. The enigmatic Mr. Redvers, who helped Jane solve a murder in Egypt, arrives on the scene to once more offer his assistance. It seems that everyone at Wedgefield wants Jane to help protect the Hughes family. But while she searches for answers, is she overlooking a killer hiding in plain sight?

Book 2 in Jane Wunderly mystery series, set in 1920s. So far each book has taken place in different locale - first Egypt, England in this one. Good mystery, a little romance.

I really enjoyed the mystery with twist and turns trying to figure out what is going on. I totally dig Jane. She is sassy, smart, and observant.

Stressful week with in person classes resuming, so it‘s back to comfort reads again!! Murder at Wedgefield Manor is the second in the series. I enjoyed this book much more than the first and the estate has a lot of mysterious goings-on and romance. It‘s great to get to know the characters better too—the book opens with the sleuth Jane learning to pilot an airplane and as the investigation takes off, she spends more and more time with Redvers

melissanorr This series is on my TBR. Maybe I'll start with book 2 😯 3y

Never posted a review for this one. Finished on Saturday. I really love this series! I‘ve listened to both books on audio and I might actually buy hard copies so I can reread them. That‘s how much I loved them!

This is the second in the series and you should definitely read them in order. Jane is staying in the England countryside and people start getting murdered. So she of course has to figure out who did it with the help of her hunky Redvers

Laughterhp This is actually book 1 done for #AwesomeApril 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
