so what if red riding hood was actually the wolf and she protected the town from the scaries in the woods but they were all hunting the wolf bc they don‘t know it‘s actually their protector? loved the idea, subpar execution. lil red over here just spends the whole book gaslighting people. progresses not at all how I imagined the story playing out. and somehow the ending is still predictable and a bummer.
pickThis retelling of Red Riding Hood is dark and gory. I didn‘t expect it because it starts too sweet and cheesy. But then when Adele acknowledged who she really is and what her mission is...everything changes. It reminded me a little bit of Christina Henri‘s retellings. The end, I don‘t know, it was ok. 3.50⭐️ I like this cover.
pickWoza. Incredibly dark reimagined red ridding hood. Adele finds she‘s the new guardian of her village, by becoming the monster they fear. It was hard to watch her learn to make choices for her village when they broke her moral code. Yet she still found a better solution in the end. The contrast between Max and Grainger was stark. This is a story of fining the right choice, even if it is the most painful. But also of dark wood monsters Adele fights

In this Red Ridding Hood retelling, it is the girl Adele who is tasked with protecting her village. As one from a line of guardians who do so by turning into a wolf. Yet it is a secret from the village. So what will happen to the boy she loves, The future she desires, Her moral code, if she accepts this life?
pickI‘m surprised that I haven‘t heard more hype about this book! First off, the plot keeps the story moving and makes it extremely hard to stop reading. Also, I have to admit that I have never read a retelling in which Red Riding Hood is also the wolf. Finally, while there wasn‘t necessarily any astounding world-building, Vincent made Oakvale and the surrounding dark wood 3-dimensional. If you love fairytale retellings, this book is for you!
so-soAdele has grown up knowing never to venture into the dark woods surrounding her small village because it‘s filled with dangerous monsters & people who wander off into the woods often don‘t come back...or don‘t come back the same. The premise of this YA updated retelling of Red Riding Hood is a good one & there are some interesting elements that are sure to interest many young readers. It‘s ok but I wanted a little more. On sale 7/20/21.
