Frankenstein | Ludworst Bemonster

Frankenstein is the scariest of all the monsters in Miss Devel's castle- until one night, when Miss Devel discovers that Frankenstein has lost his head. From The Washington Post's review: ''Anyone who loves Ludwig Bemelmans's classic will be howling at the moon over this witty mash-up.''

This book came out over 10 years ago and I don't think my students would know who Madeline was, so they wouldn't get the parody. But I think they would love this book. The pages are clearly well loved (most of my posts are about library books from Timberland Regional, our my school library).

Another adorable book my son picked out from the library! It was so cute and told a kids parody of Frankenstein. Miss Devel has a house full of little monsters and they reek havoc on their town, especially little Frankenstein!

While reading our favorite Halloween book, a wonderful parody of Madeline called Frankenstein, my son recognized this masked man making a cameo! #TheHangman #NathanHale #HazardousTales

This is such a fun re-interpretation of Madeline! My son loves monsters, so the wildness and antics of these crazed little felons really appealed to him. If you and yours enjoy a little craziness and mild, childish creepiness, this is the book for you!
