Old, much loved and still regularly used. Whiston‘s Josephus still the classic go-to text for everyday life and religious practice at the time of Jesus; Farrar‘s Life Of Christ still an astonishing work of scholarship one hundred and thirteen years from its original date of publication. Alas, the anti-Judaic slant lets it down but elsewhere it‘s hard to fault. Both illustrated too. They just don‘t make ‘em like this any more.
