I need to get this book for my library. Fauja Singh "hoped that children and adults everywhere would see him take on this difficult challenge and persevere with grace - something he learned from his faith." A great #readforperspective & #SEL book.
This was an engaging and emotionally involving picture-book biography of Fauja Singh, a Sikh farmer from the Punjab, who began training to run the marathon in his 80s. I enjoyed the narrative, found the artwork lovely, and really appreciated the brief message from Singh himself, in his foreword.
“You know what you‘re capable of. Today is a chance to do your best. “

With faith, confidence, dedication, and perseverance, Fauja Singh tackles everything in life, from learning to walk (he couldn't until he was around 5 years old) to farming, to moving in his 80s, to running marathons. Fauja Singh's story is delightfully written and illustrated, and the book includes a forward by Fauja himself, and a short biography and listing of his records at the end.
