A sexy, realistic portrayal of the complicated lives of contemporary women in their twenties. The first-person narrator is Stacey, an awkward aspiring actor. Her part-time jobs barely pay enough to get by in St John's, Newfoundland. Her story opens with police storming in through her front & back doors with a warrant. Full review:

Longlisted for the #gillerprize Eve Crocker's debut is centered around 20 somethings that are struggling in today's world. Struggling to make enough money, struggling to find their purpose, struggling to identify who they are in a world with so much pandemonium. Youth that have been brought up on technology, social media's influences and fluid sexuality. Fans of Sally Rooney will enjoy this one I think. Looking forward to more from this author!

Most of what I know about the bible I learned from Jesus Christ Superstar, starring Ted Neeley. […]
We loved the high priests. We wrapped ourselves in navy sheets & stalked back & forth across the coffee table, singing along. Vic hated Jesus, she hated his lank blond hair & she thought his voice was whiny. When he stormed through the temple & smashed a slowly rotating rack of mirrors she sighed. “What a drama queen.”

wanderinglynn I love ALW‘s musicals. And in JCS, I loved Yvonne Elliman as Mary Magdalene. 5y
Lindy @wanderinglynn Didn‘t see JCS except as a high school performance, but I too have loved the music since I was a teenager 🎶 5y
Ruthiella I love this musical-though I‘ve only seen the film. My favorite parts are those sung by Carl Anderson...amazing performance. 5y

xicanti In my first year at uni, I took a children‘s lit class where we read Narnia. My discussion group was agog I knew so much about the Christian symbolism. “You must be super religious,” one girl said. “Nah,” I said. “I‘ve just seen Jesus Christ, Superstar six times.” 5y
