Bethany, Ebenezer Tweezer & the Beast are back in another humorous tale. The Beast is reformed, or so it claims, & no longer wants to eat any & everything with a heartbeat. While Ebenezer believes the Beast & decides to teach it about do-gooding, Bethany has her doubts. She‘s convinced the Beast is not only still evil but also up to something nefarious. Love the story & the illustrations throughout & excited to see there will be another book.
After vanquishing the Beast—the creature that had kept Ebenezer Tweezer alive for 500 years thru means best not discussed here 😉—Bethany is ready to do good & she‘s going to make Ebenezer do the same to make up for everything. But the Beast isn‘t quite as gone as they think & it has plans of its own. Another fantastic story filled with humor, magic, danger, mayhem, do-gooding, friendship, & found family. A very entertaining middle grade series.
I am inordinately excited about today‘s book mail—books two and three in the fabulously funny, quirky, & downright spooky middle grade The Beast and the Bethany series as well as the sequel to Garth Nix‘s fantastic YA fantasy The Left-Handed Booksellers of London. I can‘t recommend these series highly enough. They‘re both excellent and I‘m beyond excited to continue both series…which I‘m going to do, right now.
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 215.

We absolutely had the best time reading this book! Roald Dahl meets Lemony Snicket. It was an absolute riot. Great read aloud for families or for independent readers ages 8-12.
This is the first of a new series for middle grade that I absolutely LOVED!! It has darker humor comparable to Lemony Snicket, very fun and funny. Pick this one up Dec 8th. Thank you to Simon & Schuster for the finished copy to review!!
A great middle grade book that kept me turning pages.
A mean man lives a great life feeding a beast which allows him to get anything he wants. Then one day, the beast asks for a child and the man goes on a hunt for a child. He finds a mean child that nobody likes and takes her on as a gift for the beast. Will he give up Bethany to the beast or will he learn to see a different side of her and himself?

Loving this book so far! A quick read that leaves me wanting more! I can't put it down!!
Thanks to Simon and Schuster for the ARC.
22 books (& who knows how many comics since I stopped counting them) in September. Heavy on middle grade ARCs—the tagged book likely my favorite. Other favorites this month include Lightfall: The Girl & the Galdurian, a delightful graphic novel, Maya and the Rising Dark, A Hopeful Heart, well-written & engaging MG biography of Alcott, Punching the Air, powerful YA book, & Night of the Mannequins by Jones, a fantastic, not for kids, horror novella.

This book is an absolute delight & a great middle grade read. At the ripe old age of 511, Ebenezer Tweezer, who doesn‘t look a day over 20, has lived a long & fabulous life. But, he wants more so he continues to feed the monster in the attic who vomits up the magic elixir that a keeps Ebenezer young. Then, the monster asks for a child to eat & in comes Bethany. Will Ebenezer feed her to the monster or will she change everything? Out in December.
