pickThank you @megnews for solving the #ER #BlackMainCharacterPublishedBefore2000 conundrum, which had me totally stumped - I found a 1982 copy (originally published 1950) of another of Margaret Hillert‘s books, this one about a small child who likes collecting, sorting & arranging things - buttons, stamps, shells. A traditional #ER book containing 64 repeated words, that‘s stood the test of time. This one‘s also been reissued with new illustrations.
