Series close-up! The Matthew Scudder novels by Lawrence Block are some of my favorite detective novels ever - and a study of the evolution of NYC that is almost Dickensian. I love how Scudder ages as the city does, from the grim 70s to after 9/11. And although they're dark, they're gripping as all get out. Start with the first - The Sins of the Fathers. #24in48 #readathon
MrBook You've talked me into reading the series 😎👍🏻. 9y
brendanmleonard @MrBook start here - the first volumes are somewhat repetitive, but essential for when you get to 8 million ways to die
