I love animals, but I'm definitely a cat person. And Agnes Nutter is irritated with me that I won't stop trying to make her take pictures.
Nostalgia post for #24in48 - my oldest/first favorite book. I loved Pickles the Fire Cat so much it‘s surprising now to reread and see he started as a jerky boy chasing the neighborhood kitties! But he reforms and becomes a good boy - and his legacy lived on when I named my first ever cat after him - even though they looked nothing alike 😸
I'm usually a slow reader, but I managed to finish a book in less than an hour! Granted, it was an early reader book, but...
One of the cool things about my current job is each employee gets 8 paid hours for volunteer work annually. I volunteered at the Kids' Book Bank & rescued this book from "book heaven".
Charming illustrations & a great message about a "bad" cat who finds the right avenue for all his energy when someone sees his potential.
#Fivebooks that influenced me:
1. I named my first cat 'Pickles' after The Fire Cat
2. Mushroom Planet was my first obsession.
Constant #reread!
3. Raymond Carver stories made me a Literature major. Perfection.
4. Golden Compass was my first fantasy read as an adult. I was reluctant & pushed into it.
I am a 99.9% fantasy reader now. #noshame
5. Rick Steves made me a traveller. His books rock.
Thanks for the tag @Jess_Read_This !
I guess the barrel was the only thing that sparked joy for Pickles...
Well, it's still Friday where I am so here is a late #funfridayphoto of my favorite book as a kid. I destroyed the original with rereading so found this copy as an adult for nostalgia's sake. My first cat was christened Pickles in this Fire Cat's honor even though he looked nothing like him 😽😽
