The Bar at the End of the World
The Bar at the End of the World: The Watchers Book One | Tom Abrahams
4 posts | 2 read | 5 to read
A starving city. A renegade bootlegger. A battle for the future of mankind. Zeke is a bad guy. He didn't choose to be. It's just who he is. It's who he has to be to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where trust is as scarce as water. He's got nobody. No family. No friends. And he left behind the woman he loved for her own good. But it's time to change. After a brush with death far out in the wasteland, he decides he's done risking his life to help his greedy bosses control who gets to drink water and when. Now, he's stranded in a bar in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the perfect kind of ruffians who can help him go back and make things right. Armed with renewed purpose and a one-of-a-kind muscle car, Zeke hunts for redemption, seeks retribution and, maybe, just maybe, he can get his girl back while he's at it. Take a ride across the wasteland in Tom Abrahams' newest post-apocalyptic, dystopian series, but with a fantasy twist. It will leave you wondering just what it means to be human. It's perfect for fans of A.G. Riddle, Hugh Howey, and Stephen King's The Dark Tower.

It only took one look for me to add this book to my wishlist. It just has everything to get my attention. And thanks to @PuddleJumper and the #Roll100 challenge I got the chance to find out if it meets my expectations.

Well - it did. From the start until the end. On each page. There are fast cars, fights, heavy drinking and hard characters with soft cores. There are also some interesting twists. The only thing I disliked was the slight fatphobia.

The Bar at the End of the World will be my #Roll100 for the End of the Year - if this isn't promising! 😃 Can't wait to dig into this one!

A starving city.
A renegade bootlegger.
A battle for the future of mankind.

An absolutely great first book in a series, I got Mad Max vibes from it but I don't mean it's like it; it's a completely unique post-apocalyptic story in it's own right and I highly recommend it.

I'm looking forward to the next book. 👌

LitStephanie I love that title! Looking forward to your review when you are done. 4y
LitStephanie Ignore that comment. Apparently I am not awake yet. You clearly finished it. 🤣 4y
TheNeverendingTBR @LitStephanie Coffee time!! 😃 Yes, it was a catch-up review. It was very good and different from your usual post-apocalyptic story, theres a second book but I'm unsure if it's out yet; I'll need to investigate. 🤓 4y
