“Because—and he still did not understand how people like his brothers could not see this—inside the pages of each and every book was a whole other world.“
AGREED.
Enjoyed this! A small group of people, all fans of Austen, decide to form a society to preserve her legacy, their main intention being to open a museum. Would definitely recommend to Austen lovers!

I might be in the minority here, but I didn't like this book. It had a perfect setting and a bunch of Austen fans, so it started out promising, but I found the plot slow, boring and somewhat predictable. In spite of the amount of trauma the characters had to deal with, I couldn't feel for them at all, while the secondary characters felt like caricatures. The Austen talk was mildly interesting in the first few chapters, ... ⬇️
Such a delight! Loved figuring out which “modern” storylines paralleled Austen‘s stories
📖 6-25-22 || A charming and light read! Took me quite a while to get into it, but it comes together in the end. Now I just want to go reread Persuasion…
After a very soggy start to June, I‘m finally getting to read outside in a sun-dappled spot… Loving The Jane Austen Society, which is as close to a “beach read “as I will get this summer! ☀️
The vignette style of the first few chapters makes them feel a little disjointed at first, but I LOVE how this little motley crew comes together through their love of Austen. #historicalfiction
I found this to be a charming read. Not sure why I put it down when I first started it last year but there you have it. Guess I had to be in the mood for this. Peppered with interesting characters and how the works of Jane Austen has inspired or touched them they band together to form a society. #aprilbooklist #readingchallenge2022
My list for October‘s #bookspin and #bookspinbingo. I‘m going for fairly easier reads this coming month.
That time I got to walk in Jane's footsteps up to the Big House - Chawton House Library. 🚶🏻♀️

Take a (bookish)Hike - share a significant walk from a book.

Set mostly following WWII, this book follows a handful of people from a small English village (and an American actress) as they bond over Jane Austen & her works‘ influence.
Overall, I did enjoy this book, but it took me until just under halfway through to be invested in it. After I understood the characters & how they were all connected, I read the second half in just a few days.
Recommend for Austen or historical fiction fans.
This was delightful, and a perfect beach read! Probably one of my favorite Austen related novels that isn‘t a retelling. I especially loved how themes from Austen‘s books are woven throughout the story. Perfect for fans of Austen.

Yay, me! I met my reading goal of 10 books a month early this year!
The Austen Society wasn‘t my favorite, but much better than the Book Club. Still, for a novel about the magic of Austens novels this lacked all spark. The characters mirroring our beloved hero/ines were likeable and the author does prove a good understanding of Our Lady Janes works, but it just aint keeping up with the original. This would be a nice beach read.
I really enjoyed this book. A group of people band together to make a museum for all objects belonging to Jane Austen and her family. #bookcovers
I have to admit that I had serious misgivings about this book, and was getting a little annoyed with some of the characters, but after the story began to center around the society, the book grabbed me and I couldn‘t put it down. I grew to care about all of the people in this little village. Things turn out well, but not in any of the ways I expected. A very satisfying read, especially if you‘re a Jane Austen fan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I don't always love fiction inspired by Austen, but this one was delightful! It's about a group of people living in the tiny English village where Austen wrote some of her novels. They form a society to try to preserve her legacy. This was a cup of hot cocoa that hit the spot.
“Reading is wonderful, but it does keep us in our heads. It‘s why I can‘t read certain authors when I am in low spirits.”
“But one can always read Austen.”
Just starting this today and is the second of three books in my mini Jane Austen reading project.
Delightful! Sweet but has a fair bit sadness too as much of the story takes place at the close of WWII. With a smidge of romance, intrigue, and Jane Austen thrown in, how could you go wrong? Jenner managed to give ample and meaningful nods to Austen while creating unique, singular characters that shine. Excited to read more from this author, what a great debut novel!
A cute story about a community coming together and Austen helping people connect and process life.
