Some info is outdated now, but good 101 information overall, and it's definitely funny! Lots of yummy-sounding recipes, too. #glutenfree #celiac

Meal planning ( Crock Pot Paleo/ GF Meatballs) while Audio listening to The Silver Chair. Combined the recipe from the tagged book (right pic) and a sauce from Pinterest- super easy and quick ! Excuse the language of the tagged book- great recipe book and funny stories. 💙in retrospect I would make the meatballs ahead and freeze them, so that it‘s easier to stack them on top of each other when you go to mix them in the crock pot

Okay, I have Celiac Disease and really need things to be gluten free. A nice man at the restaurant said if I call them the morning of my trip that they will make sure the dish I choose is prepared gluten free. I did that, reminded my waiter, even asked that my steak just be seasoned with salt and pepper.

I. Am. So. Sick. Right. Now. I couldn't sleep last night 😫😫😡 This is why I avoid local restaurants that don't have a specific menu. 👎🏻👎🏻

BookishMarginalia That is truly a horrible thing. If they promised, they should have delivered. (Though probably they also lacked the knowledge to make your meal truly gluten-free). Yep, definitely stick to restaurants that know what they're doing. And I hope you feel better soon 💜 8y
LiteraryinPA I'm so sorry that happened! Hang in there! 8y

Camsmom2010 Oh no! I feel your pain as I am also a Celiac. I hope you feel better soon. I find it so frustrating at times as I'm sure you do. 😢 8y

stacybmartin That's terrible - hope you are feeling better soon!! 💜💜💜 8y
Megabooks @BookishMarginalia Thank you so much! My dad suggested I call and educate them when I'm feeling better. I think that's a good idea. 8y
Megabooks Thank you all so much for your well wishes!! ??? Like a vet I used to work with said, "It just takes a tincture of time." ?? @LiteraryinLititz @Jenshootsweddings @CherylDeFranceschi @megt @LauraBeth @DGRachel @Camsmom2010 @NovelGirl82 @stacybmartin 8y
Cinfhen Oh no! That's terrible😔 I just got tested for Celiac, still waiting for the results...I'm gonna need lots of pointers if it comes back positive @Camsmom2010 & @Ebooks 8y
LeahBergen 😠😠 That's awful. I hope you feel better soon. 😘 8y
Megabooks @Camsmom2010 @Cinfhen We can check out cookbooks together. *looks on the bright side* The worst thing about it is eating out. Eating at home, I don't feel like I'm missing out. It just takes a bit to find what brands you like. For example, I just had a gluten-free Freschetta pizza for lunch! 8y
Megabooks @LeahBergen Thank you 💜💜😊 8y
Camsmom2010 @Ebooksandcooks @Cinfhen I was diagnosed a little over a year ago when my appendix burst. It has definitely been a learning experience. I agree that the most difficult thing is eating out and forget about fast food. Lots and lots of planning is required. 8y
Megabooks @Camsmom2010 I was diagnosed after a GI hospital stay, too! 8y
Cinfhen @Camsmom2010 & @Ebooksandcooks thanks for letting me know, I won't be alone in the journey but I'm really hoping it's just a gluten sensitivity and not Celiac 🙄sorry that you both have to deal with this issue on a daily basis and that pizza sounds delicious 😋 I haven't had pizza in ages bc it messes with my stomach so badly 8y
B.Reader I'm so sorry! I hope you are able to do what you need to in order to feel better. I have been gf for about 5 years now, and am going through more testing on Tuesday to see if we can finally figure out an official diagnosis. Hang in there! 8y
Megabooks @B.Reader Good luck! 🍀🍀🍀 I hope you find some answers! I had been sick for a few years before my diagnosis, and my doctor kept telling me to eat yogurt. 😒😒 8y

5⭐️- I loved finding a book that rants about the ridiculousness of the (forced) life of a gluten free person, & the plethora of (now) funny experiences I have also experienced. While I used to complain inwardly "this stinks& I want to continue shoving these beautiful baguettes into my mouth" when I was first diagnosed as gluten intolerant, this book is amazing and reassuring. Plus, a ton of great GF recipes I can't wait to try

BarbaraTheBibliophage I'm also GF (for chronic pain) and I haven't read this one yet. Thanks!! 8y
Gezemice My daughter and I are gluten free - we get terrible headaches and tiredness if we eat it. She found this in a book store so we have it but I did not read it - my kid looks up cookie recipes occasionally. The upside of this GF diet is that we eat a lot more home-cooked, delicious meals! 8y
Emily92Bibliophile @BarbaraTheBibliophage oh I hope you enjoy it! I picked this up on a whim and am so glad I did! @Gezemice it's a great book! Other than some of the language she uses, it's a pretty great resource and the recipes( dressers, snacks, full meals) look wonderful- amazing home cooked meals are definitely a plus for the GF! 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Emily92Bibliophile @Gezemice We definitely cook at home so much more now. I learned the hard way that a lot of commercial GF products are full of chemicals and other yucky stuff. Plus they're so expensive! 8y
Emily92Bibliophile @BarbaraTheBibliophage No kidding😬- they are so yummy but very expensive! It's a good thing I enjoy cooking and love finding new recipes 🤗 8y

Working on this book today at the WA Talking Book and Braille Library. It's a sign of an entertaining book when I sneak read paragraphs while audio files are saving. After reading several snippets and the odd paragraph, this appears to be 'not-your-average' health book. The author has a penchant for the salty speech and self-deprecation. If you need to laugh at yourself while getting some gf-lifestyle advice, I would start here.
