After bingeing Queen Charlotte I found it hard yesterday to get into any of my regular books so today I went with the unusual for me, a romance. This is so tender, and such a character driven book that I really enjoyed it! I try to stear away from women who write M-M romances but saw this on TikTok and gave it a try and I am glad I did perfect for what I needed today.

#roll100 is really helping me knock down my ebook tbr! August picks are great - a Cat Sebastian romance (❤️), a novella, and a short story collection. I didn't wait for the month to start once the numbers were called so I've already finished 2 and have the 3rd started. Then I'll catch up some from previous months.

@PuddleJumper

PuddleJumper Yay! I'm glad it's helping! 2y
Ruthiella I‘m also sneakily reading a few #Roll100 books even if they aren‘t called. 🤭 2y
llwheeler @PuddleJumper such a fun challenge, thank you! 2y

Poorly-lit breakfast with Cat Sebastian. I desperately need clear prose and a quick finish after my first foray into Gene Wolfe, and she fits the bill.

Side question: I know Kinder Eggs are illegal in America because they‘re, like, super dangerous and deadly*, but do y‘all get other Kinder chocolate?

*I know zero victims of Kinder Egg malfeasance.

reading_rainbow We get kinder eggs but they are plastic with a separate half for chocolate creme and another for toy 😔 idiot proof 4y
xicanti @reading_rainbow ah, Kinder Joy! Those are tasty. 4y

Ahhh so satisfying. I love the way series like this can be read separately but add little bits to each other as you go -- there's not a ton of the characters from other books, but it's good to see them.

It's been a while since I felt like sitting down and just tearing through a new-to-me book in one go, so extra kudos to this book for giving me that.

My first September book!! And not on my bingo sheet 😅😅 Decided to go through my Libro books to see what other m/m stories I had and (sadly) this was the only other one. Not a huge fan of real people covers but OK, did enjoy the story! Huge fan of the prickly guy with the devoted one (tho tbh they're both hugely devoted to each other). Not a 5/5 but def an enjoyable read, warning for...👇

coffees explicit bedroom scene, sickly main, and mentions of sexual coercion of side character by an older man 4y

Not my favorite Sebastian but a solid friends-to-lovers romance.

This was fun. An M/M historical romance that could be a light version of Sarah Waters. Two vest bros in the Victoria era realize they want to be more than "friends" and get all brokeback mountain. Needed a guilty pleasure read after reading some heavy stuff.

CarolynM I always enjoy Cat Sebastian. This was a good one🙂 (edited) 4y

I think I need a bit more action and plot in my books than this one offered. Other than one character helping to nurse the other whilst he was ill and the changes in their relationship absolutely nothing happened. I just didn't connect with it as much as the first book in the series.

Definitely giving Cat Sebastian another chance and will be reading her Turner series, especially seeing as it concludes with a f/f book.

‪ ‪“Monumental lackwit,” is my new favorite endearment. This is an immensely delightful read in every aspect! The romance is the sweetest culmination of a life time of pining. Watching the prickliest of men softened and transformed by the love he shares with the sweetest of men is just beautiful and happy making! Though the interactions with the side characters are what really sealed it for me!

LittlePixels LOL @ monumental lackwit 😂 4y
Zelma I love Cat Sebastian. Am looking forward to this, as I‘ve really enjoyed the Sedgwick series. Turner series, not so much. 4y

I adore Cat Sebastian novels. This book was almost a sole focus on the relationship between Will and Martin. It wasn‘t action packed and there wasn‘t drama - it was just a wonderful story of two men that had gone through so much and went from friends to lovers.
