I‘m so so disappointed! Personally I found this book disjointed and in the time line story with Kevin I thought 💭 there was alot of waffle to fill out the chapters . Such a shame as the basis of the story should have made it a wonderful sad and gripping read , I simply couldn‘t engage with it . Wild swans is so so much better a 2/5 for me sadly !

With one story line set in WWII #Singapore and the other in the current era, we see the devastation wrought upon the lives of the local people during the Japanese occupation. While I ultimately wasn‘t satisfied with how the two storylines related/ended, overall it‘s a wonderful book and a great start to #ReadingAsia2021

Devastating, brutal historical fiction about World War II comfort women and the impact of the Japanese occupation of Singapore. Told in two timelines, the contemporary story and narrator weren't initially as compelling, but the way the two stories relate was very well done ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (from the #WomensPrize longlist)
