This series really brings something different to the paranormal genre. Which I loved, because sometimes for me the paranormal genre feels too saturated with cheesy romance, featuring shifters or vampires that make humans googly-eyed for them. There is none of that here...this series gives you main characters that have a way of getting under your skin and will have you rooting for them despite them being monsters.
I really enjoyed the ending to such a dark, gritty and murderous trilogy. I did find this one was a slower pace than the past 2, and it took me a while to get into it, but when it got going it was fantastic! The plot continues to be super dark and full of revenge, the mystery and betrayals continue to be completely unpredictable, and I loved the sort of character arcs we got with our morally grey Nita and Kovit. Thoroughly enjoyed this series!
But not even bones, only ashes remained when Nita rose.
