Not a bookish post! Over the Christmas break we went down to Palm Springs and to Joshua Tree National Park and what an unforgettable place it was. The northern part of the park has all these strange rocks and beautiful Joshua trees and the southern part has a very different landscape and plants like the cholla cactus (bottom left).

plemmdog I love that place. One of the strangest best short stories I read this past decade was set there — “The Bad Graft” by Karen Russell... you can read it for free on the New Yorker website 6y
