Starting this today because the Vietnam reading gets very grim. 😬 💚📚

An overview of our current knowledge of genetics and how it relates to us. Covering the development of Homo Sapiens, our ancestors and how we are still related to them and how modern moved out of Africa, our growing understanding of our DNA and how it is influenced by factors such as epigenetics. The takeaway message for me is we are learning more everyday, but the resulting picture is growing as a result more rather than less complicated.

Very readable if a little mind-blowing about some details. I have to allow some of the claims time to percolate through my brain.

I liked this book a lot, it's science explained in layman terms. But, and you knew there was a but, I think not all facts that were presented are 100% true. Things kept piling up where I thought, wait a second, you've read about a different time frame, ...

Although I would still recommend it to anyone who is interested in genetics, do read it - for the scientists among you, don't get aggravated about the glitches in timeline and geography.

Lengthy footnotes, anyone? 😀

It's probably just me and the scientific part of my heart, but I find this a strong opener to a scientific book about genetics.
