4 posts | 4 read | 1 reading | 1 to read
A thrilling new limited-edition hardcover concerning class and climate change from Arthur C. Clarke award-winning author Adrian Tchaikovsky. Firewalkers are brave. Firewalkers are resourceful. Firewalkers are expendable. The Earth is burning. Nothing can survive at the Anchor; not without water and power. But the ultra-rich, waiting for their ride off the dying Earth? They can buy water. And as for power? Well, someone has to repair the solar panels, down in the deserts below. Kids like Mao, and Lup, and Hotep; kids with brains and guts but no hope. The Firewalkers.

I never showed it but my signed copy of Firewalkers came in months ago. (I‘m so behind in sharing books and reviews) it‘s lovely. This is a special book for me, it was my first officially approved ARC (digital ofc) I had received when I signed up at Netgalley. Then the publishers liked my review enough they made it a featured review. So naturally I had to order the signed hardcopy, it‘s probably not much to others but it‘s special to me.

phantomx That's awesome! I'm always looking for ARCs, and its great that critics/readers loved your review 😀 4y

Chapter 3 gets weird and further expands on this very odd world. It makes you appreciate the world we have now.

My first #Arc & I enjoyed it. Post apocalyptic world where the rich live comfortably in space & the poor live on the dried up dead plant Earth, doing what they can to continue making life comfortable for the rich, in hopes of one day joining them. A novella so it‘s short but impactful, the pacing was odd for me, but the ideals and story telling were interesting. Also a well thought out idea for 19yr olds being firewalkers was greatly appreciated.

DaveGreen7777 I‘m reading “Children of Time” by this author right now and I‘m loving it! 😀 (edited) 5y
Sweetkokoro @DaveGreen7777 This is actually the first book I have ever read by this author which is sad since I apparently own one of his other works called The Expert Systems Brother haha. That‘s what I get for buying books by covers and titles alone haha. 5y
