Mehso-so

I picked up this collection of essays by Annie Dillard because it contains “God in the Doorway,” which I absolutely love. Overall, the collection was a little hit or miss for me, though. I enjoy Dillard‘s quiet and meditative style, but often wanted a little more… something… from each essay.

This is my November #BookSpin complete (and possibly the only nonfiction I‘ve managed for #NonfictionNovember unless poetry counts😆)

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 2y

#TIL:The Franklin expedition an Arctic Exploration in 1845 “Instead of additional coal according to L.P. Kirwan, each ship (3) made room for a 1,200 volume-library, ‘a hand organ, playing fifty tunes‘, china place settings for officers and men, cut-glass wine goblets, and sterling silver flatware.” No Arctic clothes were packed, only their uniforms. Later, skeletal remains & the living men had the silver on them. WTH!Why waste your energy? #nfnov

Deifio However much I love books, this is just plain stupid! 😟 5y
LinesUponAPage @Deifio I guess history can be that way, right?? Some people think treasure is more important than lives. 5y

The only sentence I truly understood so far, "Cartographers call blank spaces on a map "sleeping beauties.""
