Pickpick

The Three Little Pigs is a cult classic. The illustrations use strokes of pens and pencils to add texture to each illustration. In this story, they talk about three pigs that decide to build their own houses using a variety of materials. There is a wolf that tries to blow each house down. The reader must guess which house is built well to save the pigs.

This TL story about the three little pigs would be a good S for your class. This classic tale follows three pigs trying to get rid of the big bad wolf. Paulgaldone.com has other fabulous picture books to share with students. EL strategy of having students use timelines to arrange and sequence important facts and information would work well for this story. UDL principle 3.2 highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships.

DrSpalding This is quality traditional literature by a quality children‘s author. This would make an excellent storytelling along with read aloud or dramatic reenactment. 5y

Pickpick

The three little pigs is a widely known children‘s book, a TL, and this specific one is by Paul Galdone, one of the original authors and illustrators. In this book, each of the pigs build a house made out of different materials.

Haleysantucci The first pig built a house out of straw, which is, unfortunately, blown down by a wolf. The next pig builds his house out of sticks, which is blown down by the wolf as well. The last pig, however, builds his house out of brick to which the wolf cannot blow down. Children all over adore this book! I would apply the teaching strategy, readers theater to this book! 6y
Haleysantucci I actually had my preschool class do a readers theater and perform this book and there was nothing but smiles! We of course had to do it a few times so that everyone could be a pig and a wolf! I would utilize UDL principle 1.3 because the children would get to see the illustrations as well as see their classmates perform in front of them, thus offering different alternatives for visual comprehension. 6y
Haleysantucci I could also use the ESOL strategy number 2 by breaking the class up into small groups and having each group perform the short story. 6y

LaGasseSam1996 This was one of my favorite books as a kid. There are so many amazing versions of this book now and can use it to introduce beginning middle and end. 6y
DrSpalding This is a good version of a classic traditional literature story. Readers theater would be a lot of fun! 6y

This version of the TL story is written by Paul Galdone. Depending on the age of the students, this text can be used for many activities, but using it for DR can be simultaneously beneficial and fun. This is the original version of the Three Little Pigs. Three pigs are sent off in search of their fortune. However, they need homes to live in.

kkidwell Each pig decides to create their home out of different material. The first pig chooses straw, the second chooses stick, and the third chooses brick. Although they all three encounter the “big bad wolf”, only one manages to outsmart him. #UCFLAE3414F17 7y

The link is not specifically for this book, but is still for the same version of the story. It includes an activity about creating an alternative ending to the story. Students can discuss this and include their alternative endings in their reenactments.
