From the author of Twenty Boy Summer, a teen pushes the limits to follow her dreamsand learns theres a fine line between bitter and sweet....Once upon a time, Hudson knew exactly what her future looked like. Then a betrayal changed her life and knocked her dreams to the ground. Now shes a girl who doesnt believe in second chances, a girl who stays under the radar by baking cupcakes at her moms diner and obsessing over what might have been. So when things start looking up and she has another shot at her dreams, Hudson is equal parts hopeful and terrified. Of course, this is also the moment a cute, sweet guy walks into her lifeand starts serving up some seriously mixed signals. Shes got a lot on her plate, and for a girl whos been burned before, risking it all is easier said than done. Its time for Hudson to ask herself what she really wants, and how much shes willing to sacrifice to get it. Because in a place where opportunities are fleeting, she knows this chance may very well be her last....

Liked: the little brother, the best friends, the protagonist‘s love for her family, figure skating, and creating cupcakes.
Didn‘t like: the love interest‘s lack of “game,” the protagonist‘s imaginary parallel life, and other little things.
I got invested but still found myself skimming a lot.

It takes forty muscles to frown, and only twelve to jam a cupcake in your mouth and get over it.

Everyone says that the internet is so awesome because you can connect with people from all over the world, but I think it‘s the opposite. The internet doesn‘t make it easier to connect with anyone—it just makes it so you don‘t really have to.

Pickpick

One of my first YA novels. Some parts of this book are amazing. Yet some parts, now that I'm looking back, are overly dramatized. I have found that all the books I have read by Ockler are the same. If there was a rating in between pick and so-so, that is what I would give it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
