Secrets from the Vinyl Cafe
Secrets from the Vinyl Cafe | Stuart McLean
4 posts | 2 read | 6 to read
The heartwarming and award-winning humorist is back. Another delightful collection from Stuart McLean, "a natural storyeller...in the modern line of Peter DeVries [and] Garrison Keillor" (Billy Collins). Here, the international bestselling author and hit radio personality explores the misdemeanors and transgressions, as well as clandestine matters of the heart, concerning the variety of characters (and their secrets) who populate the Vinyl Cafe.

I can never read enough Stuart McLean. His stories are hilarious, touching and heart breaking. His style and pacing is simple but brilliant, and you can hear his cadence as you read. Read his work, and listen to his Vinyl Cafe tapings. You won‘t be disappointed.

This copy is also my most Canadian copy, as it‘s designed by SETH.

Have any of my fellow Littens read this book or anything else by the author? Would you recommend? Please let me know. ☺️

StellaDz I absolutely love Stuart McLean! He does sort of slice of life short stories about one particular family mainly. Some of them are sweet, some sad, and some will have you laughing so hard you‘ll cry. 7y
Clwojick @StellaDz thanks! 7y
xicanti Yes, you have to try Stuart McLean! He's a Canadian icon. He also had a radio show where he read many of his Vinyl Cafe stories, and I was lucky enough to attend a live recording one Christmas. His holiday stories tend to be especially funny, particularly on audio. 7y
llwheeler I don't think i've read any of his books but growing up his xmas stories on the radio were a big part of the season. Usually listened to them on the way to get our xmas tree 7y

#foodiefiction #readjanuary. Every Christmas 🎄 I love to listen to Stuart McLean read his short story about the hapless Dave's attempt to cook the family turkey. It never fails to make me laugh 😂 I can't find my cd ( yes so last century) so thanks Google for the pic . Thanks Stuart McLean for all the laughs 🙏

This is a fun book of short stories about a typical Canadian family according to Stuart McLean an accomplished radio raconteur. The Vinyl Cafe is an iconic radio show on the CBC. All these books are full of smiles and sighs. #Reccomendsday

Dragon Thanks @Howseldomtheydo I like listening to them too. I saw The Vinyl Cafe Christmas show live here in Victoria. It was so much fun 8y
