Statistical Methods for the Social Sciences
Statistical Methods for the Social Sciences | Alan Agresti, Barbara Finlay
6 posts | 1 read
When I undertook the first edition of this book my goal was to introduce statistical methods in a style that emphasized their concepts and their application to the social sciences rather than the mathematics and computational details behind them. This fourth edition has an even stronger emphasis on concepts and applications, with greater attention to "real data" both in the examples and exercises.

Mehso-so

I've officially finished this book, as my class ended and I don't intend to read the last chapters (ok, I might read them because there qualitative focused). Overall, the writing in this book was hard to comprehend. I frequently asked "who writes sentences like that?" But the book is comprehensive and mostly well organized.

On a humorous note, I noticed that Goodreads thinks readers of this will enjoy The Call of Cthulu ? #nonfiction #textbook

I regularly write questions in my textbooks. It's not like the author will write an answer back, no idea why I do it! 😏

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I understand this! I wish they would! 5y
Kenyazero @Riveted_Reader_Melissa that would take textbook learning to the next level! 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Kenyazero Yes, and with so much online, like online highlighting and notes, you would think there would be a way that could happen. 5y

I'm getting the vibe that #nonfiction reading count is valued here on Litsy. I do most of mine in the form of textbooks, book chapters, and journal articles assigned for classes! I'll include my reads as I go along. #Academia #gradstudent #textbook #research #collegelife

4. Overdrive and hoopla, usually
5. It‘s textbook buying season, so the last book I bought was nothing special. 😏
