Last Scene Alive (Original)
Last Scene Alive (Original) | Charlaine Harris
12 posts | 45 read | 14 to read
Aurora Teagarden has never forgotten her first case: a serial killer who terrorized suburban Lawrencetown. Now that story is about to hit the small screen. Even if she wanted to, Aurora can't help getting involved. Her ex, Robin, wrote the TV movie's screenplay and her stepson, Barrett, has a starring role. Then there's Celia--the catty actress portraying Roe--who, by the way, also happens to be Robin's latest squeeze. But when Celia is murdered and Barrett is accused, the real-life script takes a deadly turn. Between threatening letters, deranged fans and renewed feelings for Robin, Aurora has one goal: catch a killer and make it to the final scene alive.

I don‘t know what makes this the “original” version. I don‘t know to which version I listened. I do know that I enjoyed it. Roe has been a widow for a year or so as this book begins, and she still is grieving. An old flame returns to town to perk her right back up. I remember in 1985, when I met the love of my life, we were kissing and “stuff.” I pulled away at one point and told him not to give me a hickey. His answer was perfect. (cont)⬇️

CatLass007 “Why would I want to bruise you?” Apparently, Roe doesn‘t mind because her new lover gives her a hickey on two separate occasions. Apparently, he isn‘t concerned about injuring her. So while it‘s still a pick, it‘s further evidence of how dated the series is. 1y

It has been a long workweek (I was super sick for the whole of it) and Monday is my 40th bday, so I‘ve taken today to kind of relax. I had an orthodontist appt, a facial, and finished one book and am almost through a second. I‘ll get back to reality tomorrow….

Susanita I hope you feel better and have a nice birthday! 3y
BookBabe Happy Birthday! Hope you‘re feeling better 3y

I‘ve really enjoyed this series. It‘s been a good character build. Which I find rare in books to keep it up in such a long series.

I liked this more than the last few books (maybe I didn't like the combination of Ro and Martin?), which is good because I have the next several on my tbr! I liked that Robin was back, but sad that Arthur has become such a creep.

Laundry started and car has been cleaned inside and out. Now time for a little reading, knitting and some unexpected Sunday SEC football.

Much better! Reminds me of the earlier books in the series, and I'm grateful for the end results from the previous book - it allowed the good stuff to come back again! Just one more Aurora boo left until the new one this fall!
